# Refinement modes

Choose how much Refyne should change the original request.

## Choose a mode

- **Auto**: Uses the active app and request to choose an appropriate shape.

- **Coding**: Clarifies implementation work with relevant constraints and checks.

- **One Shot**: Expands a short request into a more complete one-shot instruction.

## Switch modes

Choose a default mode in Settings. You can also cycle the mode from the overlay when a refinement is active. Refyne remembers your selection.
