Speak the request where you work
Hold Fn, speak after the recording overlay appears, and release to transcribe and paste into the focused app. The shortcut can be changed in Settings. Refyne is a macOS app with dictation, not a standalone speech-to-text model or a transcription API.
The default local voice pipeline uses Parakeet on your Mac. Local transcription works offline and keeps voice audio on the device. Cloud transcription is an optional, separately labeled choice.
Transcription and refinement are separate operations
Transcription turns speech into text. Prompt refinement restructures the resulting instruction for a coding agent. Enable Auto-refine on release when you want both, or use the refinement shortcut after reviewing the transcript.
Local voice does not make prompt refinement offline. Refinement sends the transcript and any selected context to the configured cloud provider. If you want a local transcript only, leave Auto-refine off and use local transcription.
Dictate a request with a clear boundary
Say what is wrong, how to reproduce it, and what should stay unchanged. Technical names can be added in Settings > Vocabulary. Review paths, symbols, and commands before sending the transcript.

In the checkout form, pressing Enter on an empty email field submits the form. Require a valid email before submission. Keep the existing error styling and test keyboard submission.
Choose a voice path deliberately
Local transcription runs on-device. Optional cloud transcription sends audio to the configured online provider and requires sign-in, an internet connection, and available plan allowance.
Microphone permission is required for dictation. Accessibility and Input Monitoring support text capture, paste-back, and shortcuts. Privacy settings separately control cloud voice, telemetry, and quality examples.
Preview requirements
Refyne is in private preview for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 26 Tahoe or later. Public downloads and subscriptions are not open. Join the waitlist for availability updates.
